01
myCCO Portal

It all begins with the myCCO portal. It’s free and easy to register for an account with a valid email address.1

1 You must submit a valid photo ID as part of the verification process.

Written applications must be submitted and approved before being able to schedule exams.

Inside the portal you can:

  • Fill out applications
  • Schedule exams
  • View your certifications
  • Order certification cards
  • Share your credentials
  • And more!

02
Take the Exams

Most of our certifications require a written and a practical exam. You can take the written exam through three modalities (OPT, EOT, or TCT), and the practical exam is administered by CCO-credentialed proctors. Results are available immediately upon completion.

03
Get Certified

Upon passing the required exams for certification, certifications are issued within 10 business days. Your employer can view your certifications through VerifyCCO, and you can share them via email or on social media in the myCCO portal!

CCO written exams are computer-based and multiple-choice. They assess your knowledge of safe crane operation, load charts, rigging, signaling, and site safety for your certification program.

Preliminary results are shown on screen immediately after you finish, so you’ll know how you did before you leave.

Testing From Your Own Computer?

OPT and EOT have specific computer, browser, and internet requirements. Check your setup before exam day.

01 Apply

Submit your application and documentation in the myCCO portal and pay your exam fee.

02 Schedule

Once approved, schedule your exam in your chosen modality and confirm your ID is valid.

03 Test

Complete your computer-based exam. Preliminary results display on screen immediately.

CCO practical exams are hands-on assessments administered by a credentialed Practical Examiner. You’ll perform a series of defined tasks on the equipment to demonstrate safe, competent operation.

Practical exams are conducted at approved test sites with the appropriate equipment and load.

01 Find a Practical Proctor

Locate a CCO-credentialed Practical Proctor to administer your exam and contact them to schedule your test date.

02 Apply

Apply in the myCCO portal and receive your authorization code to give to the proctor on the day of the exam.

03 Test Day

Give your Practical Proctor the authorization code from the confirmation email you received and your exam will be administered.

Most CCO certifications are valid for five years and require a written exam to recertify. A few programs, like Telehandler, run on a three-year cycle, and some — including Signalperson and Telehandler — also require a practical exam to recertify. Check your certification’s expiration date and requirements in the myCCO portal.

01 Recertification Schedule

Credentials expire every 5 years. Recertification keeps your status current and recognized.

02 Recommendations

Begin the recertification process at least 6 months before your expiration date.

03 Timelines

Renewal timelines vary by program. Check your myCCO dashboard for your personal expiration.
