Computer & Technical Requirements
The hardware, software, and network requirements for OPT and EOT computer-based testing.
EOT & OPT Requirements
For both Online Proctored Testing (OPT) and Event Online Testing (EOT), the minimum and recommended computer specifications for workstations are:
| Type | Minimum | Recommended | Not Supported |
| Internet Service Source (ISP network) |
Non-cellular internet sources — strong, stable, consistent, predictable:
• Broadband / Cable
• Satellite
|

Cellular internet sources:
• Cellular / mobile hot spots
• MiFi devices
|
| Internet Download Speed | 3 Mbps (3072 Kbps) per device* | 12 Mbps (12288 Kbps) per device* | <3 Mbps (<3072 Kbps) per device |
| Internet Upload Speed | 3 Mbps (3072 Kbps) per device* | 3 Mbps (3072 Kbps) per device* | <3 Mbps (<3072 Kbps) per device |
| Internet Network |
Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN):
• Dedicated WiFi network
• Private, password-protected
• Only test takers connected
• Firewalls disabled

*Use a speed test to estimate available bandwidth for a single machine. Other variables may affect actual bandwidth during testing — physical network infrastructure, other traffic on your network, etc.
Online Proctored Testing (OPT)
Important caveats and limitations:
- No remote-control software running (TeamViewer, GoToMyPC, AnyDesk, etc.).
- Only a single monitor permitted — all others must be disconnected.
- Testing within a virtual machine is not permitted; reconnect using your host OS.
- External monitors on a closed laptop must mirror display and connect directly — avoid docking stations.
Event Online Testing (EOT)
Important caveats and limitations:
- Every computer (candidate & proctor) must use the Guardian browser to launch EOT exams — download free at guardian.meazurelearning.com and install in advance.
- Have network technical support available on test day.
- Count one device per candidate plus one for the Proctor when sizing internet speed.
📐 EOT Bandwidth Example
For a 10-candidate EOT administration: 10 candidates + 1 proctor = 11 devices.
Download: 11 × 12 Mbps = 132 Mbps total · Upload: 11 × 3 Mbps = 33 Mbps total.
