Proctor – Practical

A Practical Exam Proctor (PEP) sets up the test course(s) per CCO policies, administers the practical exams, verifies candidate ID, and ensures exam security. This core credential is a prerequisite for the program-specific credentials required to administer practical exams.

Before You Begin

You must hold a current CCO certification in the program(s) for which you intend to proctor, and complete the Practical Exam Proctor Core Video Training before registering for an in-person program-specific workshop.

How to Get Credentialed

Key Responsibilities

  • ✓Set up and verify the test course is properly prepared, per CCO policies
  • ✓Train Assistant Proctors
  • ✓Be prepared with all required proctoring items, including a fully charged practical exam tablet
  • ✓Authenticate candidates (verify ID)
  • ✓Ensure exam security at all times
  • ✓Administer the test administration
  • ✓Work with the TAC to resolve test site–related issues (e.g., technical support)
  • ✓Maintain professional standards for test administration
  • ✓Close the test administration, complete reports, and submit practical exam data to CCO

Training Path

⏱ 2 hours

  • 1 You must enroll and pay for training, be CCO certified in the program(s) in which you intend to administer exams, complete the Practical Exam Proctor Core Video Training and assessments (new proctors only, approx. 3 hours), and complete the program-specific in-person Practical Exam Proctor Workshop and assessment.
  • 2 The completed core prerequisite credential is only valid for 12 months, so the in-person workshop must be completed before it expires — there are no refunds for training or credentials.
