Hosting Practical Exams

Volunteer your facility and equipment as a CCO Practical Test Site.

Bring Hands-On CCO Testing to Your Site

Facilities wishing to volunteer as practical exam test sites must meet all CCO criteria for hosting a practical exam. If the facility meets the stated criteria, CCO will provide all the information needed to schedule tests.

Practical testing happens on your equipment, in an outdoor area suited to the crane type — administered by a CCO-credentialed Practical Exam Proctor.

Suitable Outdoor Area

An outdoor testing area for the selected equipment. Pole corridors may use asphalt, concrete, or firm compacted sand/dirt/gravel free of vegetation — grass surfaces are not acceptable.

An indoor facility with a waiting area suitable for the candidate Pre-Test Briefing, plus any ancillary equipment needed to conduct the exam.

Registering Your Test Site

$50

Registration Fee

Due at the time of application, and again on or before the first practical test of each calendar year to remain registered. Employers with multiple test sites pay a fee per site. Score sheets from sites that haven’t paid the annual fee will not be processed.

1 : 1

One Site Per Address

Test sites are established by the physical address where the equipment is located. Multiple companies or sites can’t share an address, though additional equipment can be added by application. If a site’s location changes, a new test site must be established and a new site number is assigned.



To make a site inactive or remove equipment, submit written notice to CCO including the PE Site Number, company representative, company name, contact info, and representative signature. No site is discontinued without this documentation. Inactive sites are placed in probationary status and must meet new-site requirements to reactivate.
